36 Weeks Old

If you haven't already heard, Garrett, Kami, and I are moving back to Idaho (we'll be living in our house that we built in Nampa-we were trying to sell it while we've been here, but it didn't, so it's our now! We keep it!). Carol (Garrett's mom) has been here since Thursday night and she'll be flying back to Boise Tuesday morning and she's taking Kami with her so we can get our stuff packed up without having to chase a baby around or drive twelve hours with her. I'll miss her tons, but it will be easier to pack and drive without her (which we will be doing Saturday).

Kami is cutting yet another tooth. She now has her two middle bottom teeth and her new one is cutting on the top, in the middle. She's been a little fussy because of her teeth and she's been waking up in the middle of the night crying, so it's been a little rough, but nothing we couldn't handle!

This week has been an exciting one, and a sad one. I'm sad because I will miss the Hufstedlers and it will be sad for Kami to not have interaction with her best friend, but we'll each visit each other lots. It's been exciting because Kami's grandma has been here and we've gotten to show her around Denver a bit, Garrett had a soccer game that we all got to enjoy, and we threw Judah a birthday party for her first birthday (which isn't for another two weeks) that included a baby-friendly cake! It was so much fun and I'm glad we got to have the party before we left!

Tooth update! Here's her two bottom teeth. I'm still trying to capture the top tooth, but it's a bit difficult.

Kami loves to go around and beg for food or drink from people that are around her. One night, Garrett had some water in his water bottle and Kami just had to have some!

It looks like we're feeding a small calf. What a silly girl! She actually drank pretty well from the water bottle!

She loves to share mom's blizzard too!

Kami really likes her vanilla teething biscuits as an after-dinner treat.

Look ma! No hands!

Kami LOVES her bear from Alaska that Uncle Nick and Aunt Patso brought her. She cuddles with it when she's tired.

At lunch, Garrett had some tomato basil soup that he was eating. Kami was eating her rice cereal/mixed vegetables mush and then noticed dad's lunch. She immediately stopped eating her lunch and started slapping her hand in his general direction, which means "I want whatever you've got! Now!" Garrett gave her some soup and a waitress noticed she was eating it, so she got us a little bowl of it that she devoured. Afterwards, she had a little bit of a soup mustache (and dribble). She loved it! Hope she's not allergic to tomatoes...

Please sir, can I have some more?

Man, that was good!

Bibs don't taste as good as tomato basil soup!

Looks like Kami, Judah, and Abby are mischievous little girls!

Yeah, we caught you!

She's pretty proud of her dad (which by the way, she's starting to "sort of" say)!

Standing up is getting so much easier for Kami. She's constantly letting one hand go and occasionally, she'll let go with both hands, but it lasts about two seconds and when she realizes what she's done, she panics slightly and grabs on to whatever's closest with determination.

I love diaper! Mmm...

How do I get this thing opened?

Kami's starting to clap at things, but she does the one-hand clap with one hand staying stationary and the other hand doing the actual clapping.

Crawling downhill in the long grass proved to be slightly difficult.

She's such a sweet little girl!

Here's dad's number one fan!

Jeannie and her snacks attract babies from all over!

Here's the birthday girl in her birthday hat!

I bought some leis for the babies (Judah, Kami, and Abby-Robb and Michelle's daughter who's ten months old)-Kami looks like a Broncos supporter!

This is a general idea of what the cake looked like before the babies.

Kami's got her eyes on the prize.

Yummy....

Frosting got everywhere!

We gave Kami a quick sink-bath after the cake to get all the frosting off. She was not happy.

35 Weeks Old

This week, we had to move Kami into our room-she and Judah were sharing a room, but they kept waking each other up and someone had to go get the girls and rock them back to sleep (which is nice to do once a night, just not three times). Every morning, Kami gets up around 7:30 and plays in her pack n' play for a bit. After about fifteen minutes, she stands up and starts pounding on the wall and fake coughing towards our bed, waits until we sit up and acknowledge her, then she rewards us with a smile. What a stinker.

Her teeth keep cutting through those gums and are starting to look like real teeth. The two that have cut through are a little crooked, but they make her little smile look pretty cute. She's also starting to eat more "real" food. She tried some chicken and rice soup that Jeannie made and she's been eating more breads and muffins that I've had. She's not too picky about her foods, just no green foods right now. We'll try some peas and green beans again later.

This Labor Day weekend, all of us took a day trip to Salida, Colorado, which is a little "outdoorsy" town about 150 miles away. We left right after we had breakfast and drove there in our TrailBlazer. Kami slept for about ten minutes and Judah got a nice ninety minute nap.We got there in time for lunch and ate at Amica's, which is a pizza joint that everyone had been to except for me. It's also where Cody and Garrett eat after Wilderness Trek with the teens. Then we all walked around the town a bit, got some ice cream, walked down by the Arkansas River and watched some people kayak, went to and indoor hot springs/aquatic center, and then ended the evening by going back to Amica's, where our journey began. We then drove home after dinner where Kami, again, only slept for about ten minutes, woke up, cried, and was mad that she was again in her car seat. When we got home, she did go to sleep and slept through the night, but I'm sure she doesn't want to be in her car seat for a while, so I think we'll give her a break for a bit.

It was a little cool last night, so we put her in a sleeper. It's been a while since we've done that, so I thought I'd get a picture. She's starting to do a fish face too, which is pretty funny.

Judah got a new toy in Salida and Kami got to play with it.

She likes to stick her tongue out now.

My parents' neighbors made Kami a little blanket. She used to not play with it, but she loves it now!

Her sleeper is a 6-9 month one, so it's still it a long, so Judah had fun pulling on the extra room in the feet.

Kami got a hold of my camera case when I was trying to get some good pictures of her and she was pretty happy with herself.

I was playing peek-a-boo with her before I left for work on Saturday. Now you can see why I hate leaving her!

She's like a little monkey with her dad.

Here are her two crooked, little teeth right after some delicious corn and sweet potatoes.

Judah and Kami like to read books together.

She likes to peek over the sofa arm at me.

She also likes to munch on it.

Kami loves her otter pop from Uncle Nick. She's had this since she was born!

Here's her "grandpa face." They both like to stick out their tongues while concentrating on something.

Here she is with that darn cell phone again.

Isn't she cute? What a goofy girl!

Kami loves our air conditioner, just like mom and dad!

Garrett likes to toss her up in the air and she thinks it's funny. Her hair is pretty funny too!

I was eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich after she ate her lunch, and she wanted some of my bread (she told me). I think she likes wheat bread!

Here's a tooth close-up. We think she's got another one coming in on the top. She's really been drooling and chewing on her fingers lately, not to mention a bit fussy. Teething is awesome!

This is Kami's "Slingblade" face. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you should Google "slingblade" and look up pictures of Billy Bob Thorton. It's a movie he's in and she looks like him.

"Slingblade" close-up. The girl with many faces.

Cody was trying to mimic her "Slingblade" face and Kami thought it was pretty funny.

It's so fun to make her laugh! She likes rough-housing with her dad.

Kami was happy at the beginning of our Salida trip!

Here's the Price family at Amica's. I wasn't as impressed with it as Garrett was, but he's not impressed with Old Navy like I am. Opposites attract, right?

All three of us shared an Oreo shake after lunch. We all enjoyed it too!

We found an outdoor shop and there were some baby sunglasses that she thought were funny.

Her future's so bright, she's gotta wear shades!

Kami was pretty worn out after not having a nap and walking around town. She ended up falling asleep for five minutes while we drove to the pool. I felt bad waking her up and putting her in a swim diaper and bathing suit...

but she really seemed to enjoy herself with all of us.

She's showing off now.

She started crawling over the edge into the lap pool. Probably not the best idea for an eight month old to be in a four foot deep lap pool...

What a smiley girl!

She's been doing a bear crawl lately instead of her regular crawl.

Dad and baby girl had fun together!

She got thirsty after swimming, so she tried drinking out of the fountain. She did pretty well with it too!

She was so worn out after a long day. Too bad she didn't stay asleep the whole way home. What are you going to do?
