This week, we had to move Kami into our room-she and Judah were sharing a room, but they kept waking each other up and someone had to go get the girls and rock them back to sleep (which is nice to do once a night, just not three times). Every morning, Kami gets up around 7:30 and plays in her pack n' play for a bit. After about fifteen minutes, she stands up and starts pounding on the wall and fake coughing towards our bed, waits until we sit up and acknowledge her, then she rewards us with a smile. What a stinker.
Her teeth keep cutting through those gums and are starting to look like real teeth. The two that have cut through are a little crooked, but they make her little smile look pretty cute. She's also starting to eat more "real" food. She tried some chicken and rice soup that Jeannie made and she's been eating more breads and muffins that I've had. She's not too picky about her foods, just no green foods right now. We'll try some peas and green beans again later.
This Labor Day weekend, all of us took a day trip to Salida, Colorado, which is a little "outdoorsy" town about 150 miles away. We left right after we had breakfast and drove there in our TrailBlazer. Kami slept for about ten minutes and Judah got a nice ninety minute nap.We got there in time for lunch and ate at Amica's, which is a pizza joint that everyone had been to except for me. It's also where Cody and Garrett eat after Wilderness Trek with the teens. Then we all walked around the town a bit, got some ice cream, walked down by the Arkansas River and watched some people kayak, went to and indoor hot springs/aquatic center, and then ended the evening by going back to Amica's, where our journey began. We then drove home after dinner where Kami, again, only slept for about ten minutes, woke up, cried, and was mad that she was again in her car seat. When we got home, she did go to sleep and slept through the night, but I'm sure she doesn't want to be in her car seat for a while, so I think we'll give her a break for a bit.
It was a little cool last night, so we put her in a sleeper. It's been a while since we've done that, so I thought I'd get a picture. She's starting to do a fish face too, which is pretty funny.
My parents' neighbors made Kami a little blanket. She used to not play with it, but she loves it now!
Her sleeper is a 6-9 month one, so it's still it a long, so Judah had fun pulling on the extra room in the feet.
Kami got a hold of my camera case when I was trying to get some good pictures of her and she was pretty happy with herself.
I was playing peek-a-boo with her before I left for work on Saturday. Now you can see why I hate leaving her!
Here's her "grandpa face." They both like to stick out their tongues while concentrating on something.
I was eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich after she ate her lunch, and she wanted some of my bread (she told me). I think she likes wheat bread!
Here's a tooth close-up. We think she's got another one coming in on the top. She's really been drooling and chewing on her fingers lately, not to mention a bit fussy. Teething is awesome!
This is Kami's "Slingblade" face. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you should Google "slingblade" and look up pictures of Billy Bob Thorton. It's a movie he's in and she looks like him.
Here's the Price family at Amica's. I wasn't as impressed with it as Garrett was, but he's not impressed with Old Navy like I am. Opposites attract, right?
Kami was pretty worn out after not having a nap and walking around town. She ended up falling asleep for five minutes while we drove to the pool. I felt bad waking her up and putting her in a swim diaper and bathing suit...
She started crawling over the edge into the lap pool. Probably not the best idea for an eight month old to be in a four foot deep lap pool...
