32 Weeks Old

I can't believe how fast the time has flown. It seems like just yesterday that I was holding this tiny little body without a personality and now I have this girl that crawls all over the floor and definitely has a mind of her own (if you try to make her do something she doesn't want to do, she lets you know she's not happy about it-must be from her dad)! Next thing I know, she'll be walking and talking!

This past week we got to spend some time in Idaho with family and friends. It's always so nice to visit Boise and get our "familiar faces" fix that we can't get around here. We spent the night at Dave and Carol's on Thursday and were then at my parents' house the rest of the time. Kami showed off her crawling skills and how well she could pull up on things and stand. She even stood with one hand and made sure that someone saw her by "coughing" until someone acknowledged her impressiveness. She also showed off her new tooth! We knew one was coming and it's finally made an appearance on the bottom. By the time we got home on Monday night, the second bottom tooth was getting ready to enter stage left! No wonder she's been cranky and not napping lately. The Prices also got to visit some Caldwell friends and got some pictures with some "extended" family. Both flights were fine, but someday it would be nice to not sit next to a "large" man who doesn't like to sit in my seat too. Dreams do come true, right?

Kami has also been trying a few new foods, like Apple Pear Strawberry, Blueberry Apple, Sweet Potato Corn, and a few other combinations. She still loves her Puffs too!

Big yawn! She kind of looks like a boy, huh?

We got Kami a new stroller and I think she enjoyed the box more than the stroller itself.

Peek!

Look-it's her first tooth! It's that little red spot on her gums and it's finally poking through the gums. Her second one is right next to that tooth there.

I think the puff might have missed her mouth...

Here she is with Grandma Carol and a baby doll. She's trying to figure out what to do with it. She's never seen one of these before!

It's kind of like she's waving, but I don't think she is. She did end up playing with the doll a bit and later slapped it around and chewed on its fingers.

Here was her Sunday best and her new barrettes. She doesn't care for them too much and they're a pain to get in her hair, they keep her "bangs" out of her eyes.

Kami's getting a little too big for baths in the Dokken's sink. We might have to move to the tub like we do at home. She sure liked standing up in the sink and splashing around though!

The rocking chair was a little tricky, but she soon figured it out.

It even became a teether for her. Maybe it was the rocking chair that brought that second tooth out of hiding.

"Stinker" has become my nickname for her. I think you can see why.

She sat between Garrett and me on the flight home and played with her Panda Jill for a while until she got bored and started making some noise.

31 Weeks Old

Kami is really getting better at her "fine motor skills." She can feed herself the puffs that we've been giving her for a few weeks, but she likes to grab two or three at a time in each fist and shove both fists into her mouth at the same time. Awesome! She's also pulling up on things and standing up a lot better. Also, She's figuring out how to get back on the ground from standing up so she doesn't just dive backwards and land on her head. How many times can she hit her head on the floor before her IQ lowers a questionable amount? I hope we haven't reached that mark yet...

This weekend, we had some friends over. Rob and Michelle (who Cody and Jeannie met through church) live in Denver and have been here for a while and have a daughter, Abby, who is about a month and a half older than Kami. She's also got six teeth and is saying "Daddy" at nine months. That's ridiculous! Kami poops her pants and blows snot bubbles. Is that what they mean by "gifted and talented?" It was fun to have all three girls in the house and playing together! Kami loves her friends! We also got to go to the zoo with Cody and Jeannie. Jeannie's employer reserved the whole zoo for its employees, so we all got in for free, got some free dinner and popcorn, and got to see the few animals that weren't asleep or hiding from the rain. Both times I've been to the zoo (once pregnant, once with the family), it's rained and I've only gotten to see a few animals. I'm hoping that one of these days, I'll see all the animals that the Denver Zoo has to offer!

A few other things that Kami has shown us: she now likes to roll around while we try to changer her diaper and escape the changing hands; she has quite the temper and REALLY hates to get her nose sucked out, even though she still needs it (she's had a bit of a cold for the past two weeks, so she's got snot free-flowing from her nose constantly); and last but not least, she's a bit of an exhibitionist.

Kami gets really excited when she sees her "Peek-a-Boo" book with the mirror in it.

She really likes to look at herself. You're so vain, you probably think this blog is about you, don't you?

We've moved on to second foods for her solids, so dad tried out apples and blueberries one morning.

We're not quite sure on how she liked them and seemed to be fussy after she got done eating. I guess we'll try again later and see...

Garrett put Kami on his shoulders at the zoo and put his hood over both of them to shield them from the rain. Kami seemed to like it.

She also likes to slap things, like dad's head.

Ha ha! Couldn't pass this one up! I think she's cuter than the chipmunk though. Like I said, not too many animals, but we got a few good shots.

I got some address labels in the mail and when I got home from work, I noticed that one was missing. Soon after, I realized Kami had something on her forehead. Dad's so funny...sometimes it seems like I've got two kids! I guess this way, if she gets lost, someone will know where to return her. I'm just not sure if she'd fit in our mailbox...

She really likes to pull up on the baby gate and stand up.

30 Weeks Old

Kami is becoming more and more adventurous each day. She is now pulling up on whatever she can get a hold of and stands there for a few moments quite proud of herself. She's also picking up new tricks, like the one that Grandma taught her last week while she was here in Denver: the fake cough. Any time she wants attention from someone, she coughs in their general direction until they look at her. She then returns the attention with a smile and look of satisfaction. What a dork.

She also still loves pretzels that she acquired a taste for at the Coors Brewery. We finally found a bag of similar pretzels. They're not as thick as the brewery ones, but she seems to still like them. We scratch off all the salt first so she's not the only 7-month old with high levels of sodium and hand them over. She gums them until they're too slimy to hold onto, and then she drops them to the ground. If that doesn't happen, Kami just slaps her highchair tray with her pretzel-hand until the pretzel breaks up into numerous pieces.

Garrett just got done with another class at Iliff that he really enjoyed and work's going well for me. We're all looking forward to being back in Boise in two more weeks, so hopefully we'll see some of you that visit the blog!

By the way, where are all the comments? I would threaten to stop posting, but the grandparents might not be okay with that...

Garrett has an extra XBox controller, so he lets Kami play with it.

She's quite intrigued by it. She looks for it every time she's downstairs on the floor.

Kami was crawling on the ottoman and making her way towards the end, so Garrett grabbed her just before she toppled off.

She started having fun with it and reaching for her toys.

Here's Kami after she's pulled up on the sofa. We can't leave anything on the sofa with Judah around because Judah can stand up and reach anything on the couch, but now, Kami can too, so watch out!

Like I said, she can climb up on anything, even a baby gate. Here's the rear view...

Her hair's a little out of control. I'm trying to train it into a side part, but her cowlick is proving to be a formidable foe, so for now, she's got the comb-forward and sweep-sideways look going on. Obviously, the sideways sweep wasn't happening in this shot. Her hair is really growing in though! I'm glad she's not bald!
